"Reading on Screens"

Communication has changed a lot in recent years from verbal face to face all the way to possibly never meeting face to face in a conversation. We do almost everything digitally now, even the simplest tasks. The question is always asked whether or not these advances in technology are beneficial? I believe it's both, for example the article stated that "According to one report, the amount people that read tripled from 1980 to the late 2000s" which people would say is a major blessing. Others lean towards the opposite end with believing how we're reading ins't helping long term. A lot of messages come in short text now with abbreviations and aren't fully developed sentences. Liu believed in the writing that "on-screen reading our attention declines more compared to paper reading". This of course is due to the ability to browse on say a computer, cell phone or internet reading compared to a book not offering any of those distractions. This article brings up good, but very obvious points into how society has changed as a whole due to the increase in forms of reading.
